If I were a better mod, I'd have put this in sports, but I'd like for it to actually be seen.

Anyone else a fan? I've been watching for about 5 years, it's pretty much the only sport I follow and I'm pretty hardcore about it. Not a huge fan of blood but I like the competitiveness and athleticism. I watch all the PPVs (free) online so I can stay pretty up-to-date on the goings-on.

UFC 107 on Saturday was a mixed bag for me. I was MAD impressed with Frank fuckin' Mir and his KO of Kongo. I thought Kongo would have lasted a lot longer than he did. I was bummed about Diego Sanchez getting outclassed by BJ Penn though! I like Penn but Diego is one of "mah boys" and top 3 fave fighters so it was a sensitive subject.

God I hope someone else knows WTF I'm going on about here.

I can't tell you the difference between MMA and UFC, but sometimes I'll stop and watch either of them if I come across a fight while channel surfing.

UFC is the brand name, but MMA is the actual sport. UFC is MMA, but MMA isn't necessarily UFC. Get it?

So the answer to your original question is: sometimes.

They're coming to Vancouver next year. I'd sell a kidney for a ticket.

Not sure, probably $100 or more for shit-tacular seats, aka way more than this momma can afford right now! Hopefully that will have changed by the time tix are available.

What the hell? Seriously? I never would have thought it'd be that expensive just to watch a fight like that.

Hey, do you like Jason Ellis? I hear him on satellite radio and he's hilarious to listen to. I finally looked him up and I didn't realize he's a pro skateboarder turned pro MMA dude. He's kinda cute. He swears his bloody head off on radio.

Never heard of him but the combo of "cute" and "MMA dude" has piqued my interest!

Yes I do. Big fan over here.

THe hardest fight for me to watch was KenFlo vs Guida. I love both those guys but Guida proved why he is a gatekeeper, heart can only take you so far.

I'm sorry you though Sanchez had a chance against BJ. THere isn't a current light weight fighter that would take that guy. Jose Aldo may have a chance when he moves up in a year or so.

I did see that GSP is your national sportsmen for the second year running.

Why WOULDN'T Diego have a shot? He's fucking INTENSE, his cardio is second to none and he's hungry for it. I really honestly thought BJ was on a downward slope but he made me a believer again. It looks like he may have given up cheeseburgers and marijuana for good and is taking his training seriously now, which tickles me pink. I love BJ, I just love Diego more and thought he just might be the guy to unseat Penn. Look what he did to Guida? Guy's no slouch but you're right, heart can only take you so far, both these guys found that out IMO.

The weird thing about BJ is that he is better at fighting without training than prolly 90% of the UFC and he isn't scared of anyone. He runs into problems when he moves up in weight because he is a small guy, and he sometimes thinks that he can fight Heavyweights. See his fight against Lyoto Machida as proof.

I just see BJ being miles ahead of any other lightweight.

That's the problem right now in the UFC. Nobody is going to beat GSP, BJ, or Silva, except themselves or each other. LHW and HW is a little closer matched but if Lesner gets back I don't think anyone will be able to take him, he is just too big and strong. Carwin has the best shot though.

Who knows if Lesnar will be back, he sounds pretty fucked up from what I've been reading. That'd be a shitty way to go out too, especially when your ego is as big as Lesnar's is.

I see them going to an interim title with Nog, Mir and Carwin in the mix to crown a champ til Lesnar's future is decided. I haven't seen many of Carwin's fights but he must be pretty kick-ass to never fight in UFC and get a title shot right away. Out of all these dudes, I'd like to see Mir with the strap the most. The dude has earned it IMO. That KO on Kongo was wicked!!! I didn't see that coming AT ALL. At least not so early in the first round, anyway.
